Ashton United to face League Two Latics

Ashton United’s next pre-season game is another local clash as The Robins face Oldham Athletic at Hurst Cross.

This will be the second of six pre-season friendlies for Ashton who begun their pre-season campaign with a strong 4-2 win against Droylsden on Saturday.

Great goals from new signings Connor Hughes and Chris Rowney helped lead the Robins to victory and the boys will be hoping for that same form this Tuesday against Oldham Athletic.

Oldham Athletic are currently competing in League Two, the fourth-tier league of the English football league system. Oldham last game was a 3-2 loss to Rochdale on Saturday but, although vulnerable, will definitely be a tough opponent for Ashton to face.

Ashton manager Jody Banim said Saturday’s strong performance was ‘a really encouraging start’ and that the attacking style of play that was seen is ‘most definitely’ something that they aim to consistently show throughout Ashton’s season.

Ahead of Tuesday’s game, Jody said he expects ‘more of the same’ from his players against Oldham and looks optimistic that his players can perform well against the League two side.

Fans have their chance, and are deeply encouraged, to get their 2019/20 season tickets whilst attending these pre-season friendlies, season tickets can also be purchased online. We saw how the local support helped the Robins on Saturday so let’s keep bringing that support to every game throughout the season in our pursuit to return to Vanarama National League North!
