FA Trophy action returns to Hurst cross for the second week in a row, as Ashton United look to make it back to back wins after our November lockdown against York City in the second round of the FA Trophy
The Robins covered every blade of grass last Tuesday and showed the form manager Michael Clegg wanted to see from his team after strained start to the season due to injury’s mounting. The month away from football, and the work done off the pitch showed against a great South Shields side, with every Ashton player putting in a performance they could be proud of with the only thing missing, the fans of course.
Michael Clegg’s side will be looking for that same performance this week against a strong York City side who have started their league very strongly. York play in the National League North one league above the Robins. Last time out York city drew 1-1 at home to Spennymoor Town. Last time the teams played each other was back in the National league North in 2018, where York City came to Hurst Cross earning a 2-0 win.
A key man for York city at Hurst Cross will be Harvey Bunn, the Ex Man City and Huddersfield attack has been a key asset to the Ministermen this season after signing him in the summer. The Ashton back line will need to be wary of this man’s attacking threat with his experience in the championship and the Scottish premier league.
Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, no fans will be allowed to attend the Tuesday night clash, however once again this week’s game will be live-streamed! So all the Robins fans, rest assured there will be a stream for you to cheer your beloved Ashton United from the comfort of your home and hopefully no technical difficulties this week.
The Robins will be raring to go once again at Hurst Cross looking to make it back-to-back wins in the FA Trophy and to make a real statement coming out of a tough lockdown to show who we really are. Be sure to let us know you are watching us by tweeting us your view for the FA Trophy clash.
