Bridge frustrate Robins
Ashton were left frustrated by their local opponents as for the second game running they failed to find the net whilst also having a man dismissed. Bamber Bridge were playing their first game for 2 weeks and after Yeates had sent a raking effort well wide the hosts had the first of several chances as Lufudu’s pass put Tom Bentham into the area and his left foot shot was straight at the keeper.
Josh Wilson playing in defence then conceded a couple of corners which led to Thomason’s shot from the edge of the area drifting just wide. Michael Brewster’s pass then released Alli whose cross eventually reached Brewster but the shot was blocked and Wilson really should have done better than to head the ball down and over the bar from Sam Sheridan’s free kick.
Sheridan then picked out Bentham again but his chip over Roccia had too much on it and cleared the bar and Alli then hammered past the angle from Wilson’s pass before being booked for diving as he took on Churchman, just past the half hour Tserpes exchanging passes with Alli and firing the return narrowly too high.
Straight from the restart Alli latched onto a loose ball and forced a save and Hardcastle made a great run from midfield before overrunning the ball. Sheridan’s pass then saw Hardcastle round Roccia with the ball breaking to Brewster who was only denied by Macauley Wilson heading off the line. Yeates’s swirling free kick was met by the head of Forbes and held by Hartley and Hardcastle’s cross field pass picked out Lufudu who shot across goal only led to a corner. To complete a frustrating evening for the hosts Michael Raynes was dismissed for a challenge on Macauley Wilson after Mr Davis had given the matter some thought.
