The FA Cup first qualifying round takes place this weekend and Ashton travel up to Tadcaster Albion.
The Robins will travel up to Yorkshire with the hope that their FA Cup run starts better than what the league has been so far. United’s last game was a more positive one to take into the first round where they impressively outshone a top of the league, undefeated, Matlock Town side in a one-all draw.
Last year Ashton got to the fourth qualifying round where they were defeated two-one by Southport, whereas Albion lost three-one to Bamber Bridge during the first qualifying round.
Tadcaster’s home ground, Ings Lane, is situated right outside the John Smith Brewery and so have the nickname the Brewers. The Brewers have had a better start to their season, winning two, drawing one and losing only once this season, with new manager Curtis Woodhouse looking to start with a bang in his first FA Cup run with the club. So a tough game awaits the Robins on Saturday.
Jody Banim recognises the enormity of his sides next game and believes they can take a lot from the one all draw against Matlock Town. It is also ‘huge financially’ as well for the club the manager said in his post-match interview, also mentioning ‘we massively need a win.’
The FA Cup is massive for the Robins and so they need your support all the way, everyone knows how massive a good FA Cup run is, why not be a part of it by buying tickets to watch the lads take on the Brewers.
