Ashton United travel to Warrington for the first round of the Buildabase FA trophy.
The Robins beat Gainsborough Trinity, 3-1 at the weekend so will travel to Warrington Town with the momentum of the win with them in the first step for the chase of some silverware.
The Yellows play in the same league as the Robins but are flying slightly -higher as they currently sit in fourth. However, they lost 2-1to Stalybridge Celtic over the weekend.
The FA Cup Trophy is a fresh opportunity to push for a trophy to parade for the fans, but the Robins will not want a repeat of the last time they faced the Yellows.
Coincidentally, the last time Ashton faced Warrington Town was in the same competition back in the 2017/18 season. The game at Hurst Cross ended in a one-all draw. The replay was also a one-all draw but Ashton lost four-two on penalties.
Manager Jody Banim spoke to Ashton TV after the win on Saturday and explained how ‘massive’ the win was for the team going into the cup game. New signing Jordan Slew scored his second goal for the club against Gainsborough Trinity and explained how ‘important ‘ the win was in terms of morale going into this game.
