Own goal settles local derby

A disappointing encounter was settled by an own goal from assistant manager Simon Woodford just past the hour. Casian Anghel had a free kick just kept out by Neville after Liam Tomsett had won the award and Murray’s cross for the hosts saw West’s downward header held by Allinson.

A back heel from Aaron Smith then saw Lufudo cross into Thompson’s arms and after a quick break Allinson was penalised for handling outside the area with Neville’s free kick hammered into the wall. A long clearance then saw Woodford lose his bearings allowing Clooney to lob narrowly wide and Slew hit the side netting from Smith’s pass as the angle narrowed.

A through ball saw Murray get the better of Lufudo before dwelling on the ball too long and a clear opportunity saw Clooney blaze over from 20 yards. The goal arrived as Woodford sliced a cross from ex-robin Danny Wilkins whilst trying to clear and Liam Caddick fired narrowly wide from Bianga’s lay off. A long ball then saw Clooney cut inside but fire wide and Wilkins was soon testing Allinson and the visitors’ best chance to strike back saw Chris Rowney steer a square ball just off target.
