Rangers vs Robins: a battle for three points

Ashton United will host Stafford Rangers on Saturday to face Alex Meechan’s Boro’ side in search for the first three points under new manager Michael Clegg.

Stafford come into the game in horrific form with Stafford only winning once in their last five games, however, last week they recorded an impressive victory over Radcliffe.

Ashton have found victory’s hard to come by only having won two games in the last five league games, but they will be hoping to get back to winning ways in Stafford.

Jack Sherratt was named the Rangers player of the month for November and is one Ashton fans and players  will have to keep an eye out for during the game. However, the Stafford fans on twitter were adamant that it should have been Johnathon Moran so he is possibly another player to be aware of.

The last time the two teams met was back in April of 2018 where Ashton beat Rangers 1-0 thanks to a Smalley goal in the seventh minute. Let’s hope Ashton can equal or better that result on Saturday.

Manager Michael Clegg said, in his post-match interview, Ashton ‘looked dangerous’ going forward and explains how scoring goals a part of how his teams is play, following the narrow three-two defeat last weekend against Basford United.

Here’s hoping that Ashton’s goal scoring exploits starts on Saturday against Stafford, so why not go down and watch the Robins fight for their first three points under new manager Clegg, and begin our climb up the league.
