Next up in the league for Ashton United is Hyde United, away at Ewen Fields. The Robins’ last game against Whitby Town turned out to be a disappointment as the team felt they should have come away with at least a point. Losing one-nil from a penalty. So they will be looking to fly back to winning ways against Hyde.
Hyde also played Whitby the week before losing two-nil but the Tigers currently sit in fourth with five league wins out of eight, with only three losses so far this season.
They have not been as successful as the Robins in the cup, crashing out in the first qualifying round by three goals to one. Whilst Jody Banim learnt, earlier this week, that his team will be facing Spennymoor at home in the next round, and is one everyone is looking forward to.
The last time the Robins faced the Tigers in a league game was back in March of 2016 beating them four-nil to complete the league double over them that season having beaten them at home as well, three-nil.
However, overall the two sides have played each other 15 times winning only five times, drawing three and losing seven times to the Tigers.
The team have been picking up the right results more recently in both competitions, and have plenty of positives to take out of the loss to Whitby Town. There is plenty of momentum to take into the next fixture away at Hyde United, which is only 20 minutes away from Hurst Cross, so why not go down and support Ashton United as they look for their second league win of the season.
