Jody Baniam’s men travel to Lancashire to take on Northern Premier League Division One North West team Colne FC.
Further defeat in pre-season saw Ashton narrowly losing one-nil to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night. The Robin’s battled it out on a wet and windy evening against a very good Fleetwood u23’s side with a few first-team players guiding them to a win.
Colne away will be a fixture in which the Robins will look to get back on their perch and on to winning ways once again.
Keeper, Jon Worsnop, made a few very good saves to keep his side in the game but it was in the final third where Ashton struggled to find the right pass. That was the second game in a row of pre-season where the Robin’s have failed to score.
However, assistant manager, Simon Woodford looked on the brighter side and said that the Red’s will offer a ‘different task’ for the Robin’s, this weekend, and believes it will be ‘a lot more physical.’ He was pleased to mention that the team were more confident on the ball, he and the team will be looking to take that up the M66 to Lancashire.
Colne managed to finish fourth last season, proving they will be another tough opposition for Ashton United. Both teams have met before back in 2016 in a similar game, that has been a friendly as well, with the game-ending one apiece. Here’s hoping the Robins can go one step further this time and beat their opponents.
The trip takes around an hour so why not show the Robin’s your support, ticket prices are as follows:
