Ashton United will be back at Hurst Cross this weekend facing Gainsborough Trinity, looking to get a vital win, that will move them above their opponents in the Northern Premier Division.
After a disappointing 1-0 defeat away at Witton Albion on Tuesday night, with Albion managing to grab the 3 points in the 92nd minute, the Robins are looking to get back to their winning ways and get their season back on track, after recent setbacks.
Trinity who are currently sitting in 19th place in the division, just one place above the Robins, will also be looking to take away those much needed 3 points on their travels, with previous games not going their way, having only one win in their last 4 games.
This will be the first meeting between the two sides since the FA Trophy Qualification in 2015, with their last game ending with Ashton beating Gainsborough 3-1 at home, after a 0-0 first-leg draw at Northolme.
Following the match last Tuesday, Manager Jody Banim commented saying ‘We’ve got to go and get the 3 points and see if we can turn this around’.
Banim is looking for desire and work ethic from his players to get the team back to their successful times, saying ‘We need to find a solution to the chances that we’re missing’.
The players need to find that bit more quality which has been lacking from their game, and with a little luck, the Robins should be able to turn their season around and get back to their winning ways.
