Robins looking to get back to winning ways against Nantwich

This weekend Ashton United will host Nantwich Town at Hurst Cross, where they will be looking to secure a win and put recent setbacks behind them.

Following a frustrating 2-1 defeat last week against Stalybridge Celtic, the Robins were able to create plenty of chances during the game, yet towards the end of the match it looked as though Celtic would be leaving Hurst Cross with a 2-0 victory, however Ashton were able to get one back with Josh Wilson slotting in a penalty in added time.

Nantwich who are currently sat at 7th in the league, will be looking to grab the three points on their travels aiming to climb higher towards the top of the table.  Recent games have also not been in favour of Nantwich, with the match against Grantham Town last week being their only victory this month.

The previous meeting between the two was in the 2017-2018 season, where Ashton obtained a 2-1 win, and will be looking to replicate this score, and secure another victory this weekend.

Manager Jody Banim commented on the game last week against Celtic, explaining ‘they deserved their victory tonight’. He also went to on to add ‘We’ve created chances but so have they, they showed more aggression and worked harder at times which is disappointing’.

The Robins need to put their all into the match this weekend and get back to attacking the ball and achieving the goals!

We hope to see you join us this weekend down at Hurst Cross and show the lads you’re amazing support!
