Match Preview – Scarborough Athletic vs Ashton United
Next up for The Robins is a day trip to the East Yorkshire coast to face Scarborough Athletic in the Northern Premier League.
Ashton have been in great form since the arrival of new manager Michael Clegg who led the boys to a 1-0 victory last time out against Lancaster City. This recent run of impressive form means that Ashton have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone. All eyes are on the boys to get another win against Scarborough, who look to recover from a 1-0 loss to Stafford Rangers at the weekend.
Scarborough are currently 12th in the league table with 35 points in 28 games, Ashton are ten points behind Scarborough but will be comforted by the fact that they have a massive five games in hand.
Robin’s manager Micheal Clegg is happy with the team’s recent form but feels that they can still play even better in Saturday’s fixture, “I think we’re getting better but there’s still a lot more to come, I think a few more wins will really settle this team down”.
However one negative for Clegg’s side will be the suspension of defender Jonno Hunt who will miss the next two games.
What awaits Ashton and their fans on this trip to Scarborough? Well, the Flamingo Land Stadium is home to Scarborough Athletic. Located in the Scarborough Sports Village, the stadium is less than a ten minute drive away from Scarborough’s South Bay. The South Bay is full of arcades; a fair ground, café’s and fish and chip shops, because what would a day out to the coast be without fish and chips?
So, why not make a day of it and have to a day out to the seaside whilst supporting The Robins? Micheal and the boys have admired the support they’ve received over the past few weeks and we need you to get behind the team and give them that all important encouragement to take the win this weekend!
